Aladdin workshops

Today is my first day working in a school, leading sewing workshops in relation to the Aladdin panto at Nottingham Playhouse. We are creating a massive magic carpet using a square of fabric sewn by each student and sewing them all together. The children will also write a poem of 3 wishes and a drawing of their wish and these will be displayed on swirls that spiral out of two large lamps. The installation will be displayed at Nottingham Playhouse.

The magic lamp is made from chicken wire and will be covered in fabric and tissue and have lights within the structure. The image below shows how we imagine the installation to look.
